On Saturday, April 26th I am participating in the Histio Hike Shenandoah (virtually) and raising critical funds for histiocytic disorders.

My name is Hudson and I'm six years old. When I was a baby, my mom found a lump in my groin. After several trips to the emergency room, blood draws, and ultrasounds, I had surgery at eight months old to remove it because it hurt. The surgeon told my parents he'd never seen anything like this before and it almost cut off my femoral artery, but he got it out in time to save my leg and sent it off to pathology. A week later, my parents found out I had a rare disease called Rosai Dorfman Disease (RDD), which is a form of Histiocytosis.

In the months to come, I underwent several tests under anesthesia & had a lot of bloodwork, which eventually led to needing another surgery to remove more enlarged, tumorous lymph nodes in my groin. I've had a few hiccups along the way and have some chronic pain in my joints, but overall, I'm doing great! I'm in kindergarten now and I play t-ball and basketball and pick up trash whenever I can to help save the sea animals. I'm happy I'm okay but I hate histio and all the pokes, so I want to help find a cure!

Histiocytic disorders are a group of diseases that occur when there is an over-production of white blood cells known as histiocytes that can lead to organ damage and tumor formation. This group is made up of a wide variety of conditions that can affect both children and adults.

Please help me reach my fundraising goal. Make a gift today!
